Converting a damp cellar or basement can be a very inexpensive way of increasing living space, and it can substantially increase the value of a property.  Waterproofed cellars and basements can be converted into kitchens, bathrooms, wine cellars, living rooms, studies, or even recording studios. You are limited only by your imagination. In commercial premises, common uses for basements include, extra storage / retail space, car parks, bars/nightclubs, and restaurants.

Treatment is undertaken either by providing a complete system to a new or existing basement, or by undertaking repairs to damp walls. Often tanking is used to overcome problems associated with high ground levels such as abutting pavements or high garden / patio levels.

We specialises in the field of waterproof renderings.  Most notable the "SIKA 1" system, which has a 90 year established track record. Sika 1 is designed for below ground applications including basement and swimming pool waterproofing. Comprising all necessary mortars, screeds and renders, Sika 1 utilises a specially made admixture which provides a watertight seal.  Once applied, the Sika 1 admixture reacts with moisture by expanding into a jelly-like substance, blocking all cracks and capillaries - to leave a permanently impregnable seal.  The Sika 1 multi-coat render waterproofing system has been used for basements and swimming pool tanking, plus other underground structures for more than 100 years.

Bonded flexible rubber strips such as Sikadur Combiflex are applied over movement joints and at wall/floor angles.  This stops water entering buildings at these locations. Water proof renders such as Sika 1, and flexible rubber strips such as Sikadur Combiflex, can also be used in water containing structures.  This includes swimming pools and liquid storage tanks such as bund linings.
